PM discusses fiscal, economic developments with U.S. Assistant Secretary of Treasury

Prime Minister Dr Ma'een Abdulmalik held talks on Wednesday with U.S. Deputy Assistant of Secretary of Treasury Eric Meyer.

Discussions dealt with economic and fiscal developments in Yemen in the lights of the implications of Houthi rebel militia's coup and war.

The Prime Minister detailed the US official on the government's policies and practical step aiming to manage economic hardships, achieve economic recovery, mitigate humanitarian crisis and allay the Yemeni peoples' suffering.

Dr Ma'een appreciated the U.S. Administration's support for the Yemeni government's in different fields.

He underscored the importance of external support for the Yemeni government and Central Bank of Yemen (CBY) in the framework of the outcomes international donors conference aimed to finance humanitarian response pan in Yemen, held recently in Geneva.

For his part, Meyer promised to support the Yemeni government with necessary expertise to help it fixing banking operations in the (CBY).

Finance Minister Ahmed al-Fadhli was in attendance.
