The director of the Presidential Office, the deputy head of the government's mission for negotiation with Houthis in Sweden, said that the latest Stockholm talks with the rebels showed that Houthis are profiteering from the humanitarian crisis in Yemen.

In a tweet on Friday, Abdullah al-Aleemi said "the Swedish consultations revealed to the whole world the fact that the Houthis are profiteering from the humanitarian crisis."

He said that the Houthis stubbornly refused to lift the years long siege they have been imposing on Taiz city despite the fact that ending the siege would have been a pure humanitarian move that is as easy to do as to just allow the civilians to cross (in and out of the city).

He said that despite many of the prisoners in Houthi custody are civilian activists, not soldiers, but the government agreed promptly to the prisoner swap deal for humanitarian purposes; because Houthis are subjecting prisoners to continuous torture.
