Kuwait welcomes agreement between Yemeni parties

KUWAIT-SABA
The State of Kuwait has welcomed the agreement announced about in Sweden today Thursday after concluding Yemeni peace consultations.

"This agreement is an important and positive step for finding inclusive solution to ongoing conflict in Yemen in accordance with the three references; the GCC Initiative and its Implementation mechanism, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and the Security Council Resolution 2216," Kuwait News Agency (KONA) quoted an authorized source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The source called on Yemeni parties to abide by the agreement and embark from it to stop bloodshed of brothers and ending suffering of the Yemeni people.

The sources praised efforts exerted by Sweden and the UN for reaching to this agreement.

Earlier, peace consultations concluded in Sweden on Thursday by reaching an agreement on a number of issues, notably Hodeida and Taiz, in addition to an agreement on prisoners and kidnapped people.

Regarding Hodeida, the agreement stipulates that Houthis withdraw from Hodeida's ports, al-Salif and Ra's Isa to northern Sana'a Road within 14 days and deploying the government's forces southern the road.

The agreement stipulates that Houthis shall withdraw all their forces from Hodeida City in the second phase to northern border within 21 days.

The two parties also agreed on a ceasefire in Hodeida city and its ports and strengthening UN existence in the city and committing to avoiding bringing any additional military reinforcements by the two parties and opening tracks before humanitarian aid.

The two parties agreed on handing over all revenues to the Central Bank of Yemen, Hodeida branch.
