Yemen's safe haven for IDPs and investors improves power supply

The government-held province of Marib which is offering a safe haven both for internally displaced persons and for investors in Yemen's east is now working on upgrading its power production to meet a growing demand especially from new businesses.
The province's governor Sultan al-Eradah and a team of local technicians met her on Monday and discussed the switch from a hired power generators to operating the local gas turbine station which at the current stage can produce no less than 340 megawatts.
It was revealed that two 40-MW electric transformers have been imported to get the plant to produce the province's especially its capital's needs of power.
In a separate meeting, the governor and the managements of the oil exploration company "Safer", the Yemen Gas Company and the provincial Security Committee discussed stepping up measures to clamp down on the smuggling of oil products and the highway interceptions of fuel trailers by gangs. They discussed ensuring a smooth delivery of fuel to the public and boosting the state treasury with revenues.
