Houthi militia constitutes concrete threat to social coexistence, activist says in Geneva
[25/09/2018 01:26]
GENEVA-SABA
The Houthi militia constitutes a concrete threat to social coexistence and peace in Yemen, a local activist said in an address in the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva on Tuesday.

Speaking on behalf of an NGO, the Yemen Coalition for Monitoring Human Rights Violations, Riyadh al-Dobaee said the coupist militia has been implementing various forms of racist discrimination toward the Yemenis who don't belong to their sect (prophet Mohammed's offspring) to which most Houthi leaders and grassroots fighters belong.

Al-Dobaee said that "the militia has been practicing forcible displacement of scores of Yemeni families, bombing their houses on racist motives and appointing thousands of their militants as replacers to civil servicemen" undesirable to the militia in different public organizations.

He said that "the militia regards those racist attitudes as part of its sacrosanct religious legacy." "

He said, "This is why they picked up the arms and seized power by force taking the country aback as it was transforming toward democracy" in September 2014.

The militia's belief in its God-given right to power, wealth and social prestige underlies its violence against other sects as they did with the Bahaii and Jews sects.
