Mahrah authorities deploy coast guards to prevent smuggling

Local authorities in al-Mahrah have deployed coast guards in the coastline of Sayhoot district of the eastern province as a prelude to covering the whole coastline of the province.

The checkpoints that will cover the province's whole coastline will be meant to uproot smuggling and hold to account anyone who dabbles with the thought of spoiling the country's stability," Mahrah governor Rajeh Saeed Bakreit said in a statement.

He said the local population will have a priority in future recruitments to the coast guards force.

They deployed forces, he said, will consist of public security force and armed forces and will work in high coordination with the Arab Coalition.
