Yemen, China discuss developments, peace efforts

Yemen's Ambassador to China Mohammad al-Mikhlafi discussed on Wednesday with Deputy Director of Western Asia and North Africa Department of International Relations of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party developments in Yemen and efforts of realizing peace.

Al-Mikhlafi confirmed commitment of the Government of Yemen for supporting the UN envoy and providing all necessary facilitations for accomplishing his duty for the resumption of the political process in Yemen and that the government is ready for active participation in any political talks called by the UN for solving the crisis on the three peace references; the GCC initiative, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and the UN Resolution 2216.

He also made it clear that the legal government is practicing its sovereign and constitutional right of restoring the lands and Yemeni cities, including the western coast- and Hodeida, the Port of Hodeida and Salif Port- whether peacefully or militarily and ending suffering and injustice inflicted the people of Hodeida.

The ambassador pointed to Iran's interferences in Yemen's internal affairs through Houthi rebel militia and supplying them with funds and weapons and political support. He expressed the government's astonishment of accusing the Arab Coalition countries of standing behind the two terrorist incidents targeted the al-Thawra Public Hospital and Fish Market in Hodeida and left a number of killed and injured civilians.

He also pointed to Houthi attack on the Saudi oil tanker on July 25, confirming the legality's intention on regaining its full power alongside the western coast to secure the international navigation in the Bab al-Mandab.

For his part, the Chinese official made it clear that his country believes that the crisis of Yemen should be solved peacefully in accordance to the three peace references and that China supports the positive role of the UN envoy for stopping the war and rejecting terrorism, noting that his country will provide humanitarian and development support to Yemen within its capabilities.

The two parties discussed a number of issues associated with boosting Yemeni-Chinese relations and relations of the Communist Party with Yemeni parties under the legal government.
