Foreign Minister Khaled al-Yemany has praised humanitarian aid provided by Sweden to Yemen during Donor Conference for financing UN Humanitarian Plan 2018 in Yemen.
In his meeting with Special Envoy of Sweden to Yemen Peter Semneby, al-Yemany reviewed Houthi rebel militia's violations and practices in south of the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab, pointing out that while the UN envoy to Yemen was in Sana'a discussing his initiative on Hodeida with Houthi militia- in the time the national army and the coalition forces stopped military operations in the western coast-Houthi militia carried out a criminal act threatened the routes of the international trade via targeting Saudi oil tanker.
The incident came day after Iranian threat of closing water routes before the international trade, which confirm a number of proofs that Houthis have been one of Iran's hands to destabilize the region, he said.
Al-Yemany stressed importance of the UN envoy denounce to such practices and others like setting marine mines, which contract the international law's principles and threaten international security and peace. He also urged more pressure to be exerted on Iran to regulate its aggressive approach in the regional and the world.
He talked about the government's position from the UN initiative on Hodeida and the political process in general, clarifying that the government is committed to supporting the UN envoy and has announced its position on the initiative on Hodeida and considered efforts of the UN for ensuring Houthi militia's withdrawal from Hodeida and its port a part of implementing the Resolution 2216, which stipulates on ending the coup and withdrawal from cities and government institutions.
He pointed out that the militia insists on delusion for gaining more time and seeks to increase suffering of the Yemeni people forexploiting humanitarian file to achieve political gains on international level.
For his part, the Swedish envoy said his country gives Yemen special attention and seeks to exert possible efforts for alleviating humanitarian suffering and supports the UN envoy to resume political process.
"The International Community is united on dealing with the crisis and messages sent by Houthi rebels as there is no way before them other than commitment to international references and efforts of the UN envoy to achieve sustainable peace, establishing a state able to fulfill needs of its people and regaining peace and stability in the region," he said.
