Minister of Foreign Affairs Khaled al-Yemani discussed with Italian Envoy to Yemen the government's position from UN envoy's initiative on Hodeida.
He pointed out that the government welcomed the initiative of withdrawal ofHouthis from Hodeida city and the ports of Hodeida, Ras Isa and Salif, noting that the government supported efforts of the UN envoy and the coalition and the government stopped military operations for 45 days for giving enough chance to achieve positive results in talks with the rebel militia on the ground.
But the militia, he added, continued its elusion, reiterated from commitments it made earlier and rejected withdrawal from Hodeida and rejected sending revenues of the port to the Central Bank of Yemen in Hodeida for paying salaries of public sector's employees.
He further said the government rely fully on efforts of the UN envoy in believe that the solution in Yemen is political not military and will provide all facilitations enabling him to accomplish his efforts for realizing sustainable peace.
He confirmed that the political settlement in Yemen must include restoration of the state and enabling it to have the military force alone and the state will ensure inclusion of Houthis in the political process and participation in the state politically if they hand over weapons and evacuated cities.
For his part, the Italian diplomat welcomed the government's commitment to the political solution and support to the UN envoy, noting that Italy is concerned over deterioration of the humanitarian situation and tensions in the region.
He stressed on integration of all parties for supporting efforts of the UN envoy to end the humanitarian crisis and regaining stability in Yemen.
