[22/07/2018 03:18]

RIYADH-SABA
Prime Minister Ahmad Obeid bin-Daghr received on Sunday the UN Envoy to Yemen Martin Griffith over peace efforts and viewpoints on the situation of Hodeida city.

In the meeting included President's Advisors Abdulwahab al-Anesi, Saleh Obeid and Mohammad al-Ameri, bin-Daghr praised effort of the UN envoy for peace, which is based on the three references, the GCC Initiative and Its implementation Mechanism, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and the UN Resolution 2216.

Prime Minister bin-Daghr handed over the UN envoy responses of the government of Yemen on his suggestions on the situation of Hodeida city he made to President Hadi while in his visit to Aden two weeks ago.

The Yemeni people is looking forward to peace after Houthi militia destroyed the system and institutions and violated lives of Yemenis since its coup on the state, said bin-Daghr.

He added that the government of Yemen confirms on the inclusive and just peace aspired by the Yemeni people in accordance to the three references, full withdrawal of Houthi militia from the capital Sana'a and cities, handing over weapons to the state and reinstating the legal authority.

He emphasized on showing goodwill by Houthis via releasing all prisoners and detainees in Houthi detention cells, easing affected people's access to the humanitarian and relief aid across the country's provinces.

"The reasons of the current crisis in Yemen are clear and do not need interpretation, they are the coup carried by Houthi militia on the legal government and the state," said PM, adding it is difficult to reach to any solution in Yemen without implementing the three references.

"The United Nations must reject coup in Yemen, unless it will be forced to deal with any coup against the legal elected authorities any place in the world," he said.

He reaffirmed that the government of Yemen provides full support to the UN efforts for stopping the war in Yemen and has made concessions since the two rounds of peace talks in Geneva and Kuwait but the rebel militia- backed by Iran- has been always dodged to fail effort of the UN envoy.

The decision of the militia has become at the hand of its supporter Iran, which gambles the lives and blood of Yemeni people for blackmailing neighbors and international community and in a desperate move to dominate Bab al-Mandab to threaten security and safety of international navigation.

He renewed his call to the UN to put pressure on Iran to stop its interferences in Yemen's affairs and banning smuggling weapons-including ballistic rockets- to Houthi militia and committing it to abide by international laws.

Bin-Daghr acquainted the UN envoy with continuous suffering of citizens in Hodeida over Houthi militia practices; playing with humanitarian aid, smuggling Iranian weapons subjecting the revenues of Hodeida Port for prolonging the war on the Yemeni people.

For his part, the UN envoy expressed pleasure for the meeting and praised efforts of the government in supporting peace and its faithful wills for reaching a political solution.

The UN will work on consultations with different parties for crystalizing viewpoints and possible ideas in line with the three peace references, in addition to humanitarian issues of affected Yemeni people, he said.

He expressed pleasure to the Prime Minister's ideas for resuming peace talks.
