Yemen's Ambassador to Canada Jamal Abdullah Al-Sallal met today with Canadian Deputy Foreign Minister Ian Shugart and the Director General of the Middle East Department at the ministry Mark Glauser.
He briefed the Canadian officials on the developments in the province of Hodeidah and the whole western coastline as well as the government's efforts to bring peace based on the three basic references represented by the Gulf Initiative, the outcomes of National Dialogue Conference, and the UN Security Council resolutions concerning Yemen, mainly resolution no. 2216.
He reiterated the government's support to the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths' efforts to resume peace talks in accordance with the three terms of reference.
He thanked the leadership, government and people of Canada for standing by the Yemeni people and their government and providing generous humanitarian assistance to the country through the United Nations.
