Minister of Culture hands over UN team a list of the missing antiquities

Minister of Culture Marwan Dammaj met Sunday with the United Nations' team of Experts who are concerned with Yemen. The team included Coordinator of the UN panel of Experts in Yemen Ahmed Hamishi and the expert of International Law of the team Mari Louise.

Dammaj handed over a detailed report about the Yemeni antiquities which are proved to be missing.

The Minister explained the serious damages that Yemen cultural has suffered, citing several historical landmarks that have been damaged partially and totally by the Houthi putschist militia.

Dammaj also noted that some Houthi militia's leaders are reported to have messed with some archeological sites in searching for antiquities in the militia-controlled regions.

The UN team promised to provide the Ministry with technical assistance, mainly training technicians to track the lost antiquities in the international market.

The team also briefed the Minister about the efforts they made to help protecting the Yemeni antiquities and preserve them.
