ADEN-SABA
Yemen's political parties and actors have unanimously affirmed their support for the advances of the army and the popular resistance forces with support from the Arab Coalition in the country's western coastline against Houthi putschists. In a press statement, the General People's Congress, the Yemen Congregation for Reform (Islah), the Yemen Socialist party and eight other parties said they support the government's move to liberate the rest of the Yemeni territories under the putschists' control.
The parties stressed the imperative of committing to the principal terms of reference for any political settlement; the GCC Initiative and its executive mechanism, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and the UN Security Council resolutions on Yemen mainly resolution no. 2216.
The parties said the the changes on the ground and the tip of the balance of power in the government's favor must be taken into account when any new peace proposals are put forth.
The parties affirmed that the Houthi withdrawal from cities, handover of arms to the government and release of the forcibly disappeared and abductees must precede any political talks.
"Peace and dialogue was the choice of all Yemenis, but the war was imposed by the putschists which led to plunging Yemen in political, humanitarian and social catastrophes."
The parties said the ideal settlement would be to compel the Iran-backed militia to totally withdraw from all provinces and cities including the capital Sana'a and Taiz city.
The parties called on the international community to shoulder its responsibility in supporting the efforts to restore the entire Hodeidah province from the putschists' hands, protecting the civilians and …protecting the international shipping."
