MARIB-SABA
Yemeni journalists have called on the international community to assume its responsibility in pressuring Houthi militants to stop their atrocities against journalists.
In a rally staged on the occasion of Yemen Press Day, 9 June, in the government-held city of Marib, fugitive journalists representing various information media condemned the Houthi insurgents' persistent "abduction, detention and torture to death of dozens of journalists" and other peaceful activists.
In a statement the protesters called on the international community to pressure the rebels "to release the abductees" from their jails.
Most recently, Houthis released long detained journalist, Anwar al-Rokn, looking like a holocaust victim as a result of lengthy torture including by starvation. Sure enough al-Rokn died hours after his release.
