Yemen, Saudi Arabia discuss support to Yemen judiciary

A Yemeni-Saudi panel has discussed the possible Saudi contribution to financing the construction of judicial buildings in the temporary capital Aden.
In a meeting in Riyadh on Tuesday, the panel of Justice Ministry officials from both Yemen and Saudi Arabia discussed financing the construction of headquarters for the Yemeni Justice Ministry, the Higher Judicial Council and the Supreme Court and the rehabilitation of courts and other judicial facilities damaged during the Houthi rebels' invasion of Aden in 2015.
The talks focused on revitalizing bilateral cooperation in training and rehabilitation of judicial staff, judges' assistants, members of the public prosecution and administrators, and fresh law graduates in Saudi schools.
It was agreed to form a committee representing the Saudi ministries of justice and education to devise a scholarship and intensive training plan in the Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University for Yemeni students. It was also agreed to open a branch for the university in Yemen. Two year-diplomas for Yemeni judges and lawyers will be offered and the Saudi Higher Institute of Judiciary will offer similar scholarship opportunities.
