Intellectuals from Yemen and Egypt discussed Yemen's "Future Prospects" in a seminar organized by the Yemeni Embassy in Cairo on Friday. The seminar themed "Yemen: Future Prospects" was held as part of the in the country's commemoration of the 28th anniversary of Yemen's Unity Day (May 22).
Yemen's Ambassador to Egypt Mohammed Marem, Minister of Tourism Mohamed Abdulmajid Qobati, Minister of Expatriates Affairs Alawi Bafakih, Minister of Culture Marwan Damaj, Minister of Human Rights Mohamed Askar, representatives of the different Yemeni political groups, and Egyptian intellectuals were present in the event.
In a speech Ambassador Marem stressed the importance of adhering to the national, regional and international terms of reference for peace in Yemen; the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference, the Gulf Initiative and the UN Security Council resolution 2216.
If political settlement is achieved as per these references, Marem says, Yemen will achieve the desired change, transformation to a federa; state.
Damaj stressed that the Yemen's unity has always been a national priority for the different Yemeni political groups.
Minister Askar said that since their coup d'état in September 2014 , the Houthi rebels have committed major violations of rights and freedoms to the extent of committing war crimes against humanity.
