FM receives undersecretary of French Foreign Ministry

Foreign Minister Khalid Hussein Alyemany received Thursday the Undersecretary of French Foreign Ministry for Middle East and North Africa Department Jerome Bonnafont.


Alemany appreciated the French principled stance toward the crisis in Yemen and French support for the legitimate government through the role it plays as UNSC permanent member states and in the framework of the 18-group that sponsoring the peaceful settlement in Yemen.

The Foreign Minister touched upon the latest political developments in the Yemeni arena, affirming that peace and political settlement that aims to establish fair and sustainable peace is the legitimate government's choice.

He stressed that political track sponsored by the UN should be the only single way to re-establish peace, eliminate the coup and restoring the State in Yemen in line with the three terms of reference agreed on for the settlement in Yemen.

Alemany also deeply appreciated underway arrangements for the Humanitarian Conference on Yemen scheduled to be held in Paris by the end of June.

For his own part, the French official has reiterated the French official stance in supporting the legitimate Yemeni government for restoring the State and reestablishing security and stability.

Mr Bonnafont noted that France's desire to co-organize along with Kingdom of Saudi Arabia a Humanitarian Conference on Yemen stems out from its desire to contribute toward alleviating Yemenis' suffering.

The French official expressed hope that the two friendly countries will resume bilateral cooperation in the areas of culture, development and economy that already had been in existence.

Undersecretary of foreign Ministry for political Affairs, Dr Mansour Bajash, French ambassador to our country , Secretary General of the Humanitarian Conference on Yemen, Assistant Director in the Department of International Organizations, Assistant Director in the Center of Crisis Management were in attendance.
