Socotra authority holds extraordinary meeting on cyclone Mekunu's impact

SOCOTRA-SABA
The local authority of Socotra archipelago held an extraordinary meeting today under the chairmanship of Governor Ramzi Mahroos to address the damages caused by the cyclone "Mekunu".

The province's Executive Office mourned the victims of the cyclone and a traffic accident that happened to a number of security officers.

Mahroos conveyed the greetings of His Excellency President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi, President of the Republic, to the members of the Executive Office and through them to all the people of the province.

Mahroos indicated that panels have been formed to verse the delivery of relief aid to the affected people, assess the damages in facts and figures in preparation for reconstructions and compensations by the Arab Coalition and other international organizations.

Deputy Governor of Socotra Brig. Saleh Ali al-Dhi who is a member of the province's Operations Room presented a report on the damages indicating that the number of victims of the cyclone are nine, including 2 sailors whose ships capsized. The total capsized and drowned vessels are five, he said.

The report also pointed out that the displaced families re-accommodated in schools and government buildings are 720 families.
