Prime Minister Ahmed bin-Daghr received today the Saudi members of the bilateral Yemeni-Saudi committee in charge of normalizing the situation in Socotra in the aftermath of tensions between the government and the Emirati troops there.

Bin-Daghr accompanied by commander of the Naval Forces Abdullah Al-Nokhaee and the Director of the Office of the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Maj. Gen. Ahmad Al-Aqili, received Maj. Gen. Ahmad Al-Shehri, and a number of other Saudi officers.

Bin-Daghr briefed the committee members on the steps of a reached agreement to defuse the tensions that occurred in the past two weeks to re-deploy the Yemeni security forces back in the airport and seaport of the archipelago in place of the Emirati forces that had been deployedafter the arrival of the government.

The deal aims tore-normalize life in all the islands of the archipelago and to restart development and relief aid efforts with Saudi support.

"The Arab Coalition led by Saudi Arabia is the safety valve of the Arab world and will remain strong and cohesive to protect its security and stability. We will work together in the face of the Houthi coup and the Iranian agenda that threatens the security of Yemen, the Arab world and the whole region," he said

He praised King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and his Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for supporting the Yemeni government and people in these difficult circumstances.

He also praised Saudi mediation and the UAE's support and sacrifices against the Houthi rebels as well as those of other member countries of the Arab Coalition.

In the same regard, bin-Daghr met with the members of a Yemeni military committee and government officials who gave him an account on their mission to implement what had been agreed upon around the Socotra issue in accordance with the directives of His Excellency President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi; returningSocotra island back to its former status.
