Jandabi, OCHA discuss provision of additional support to Sana'a IDPs
[09/05/2018 03:33]

MARIB-SABA
The First Deputy Governor of Sana'a Abdul Khaleq al-Jandabi has discussed with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) the provision of additional support to the internally displaced persons from Sana'a province.

In a meeting with a visiting delegation from OCHA in Marib on Wednesday, al-Jandabi discussed the mechanism for activating humanitarian work and creating channels of communication and exchange of information between the legitimate local authority of Sana'a and the UN organizations working in the humanitarian field.

They discussed the unification of visions and concepts on humanitarian work and the categorization of IDPs according to the severity of their destitution.

During the meeting, al-Jundabi expressed his dissatisfaction with the UN humanitarian organizations' negative role; staying in the Houthi-held in Sana'a without bothering to access the people who have been displaced out of Sana'a.

He said: "The United Nations organizations are concerned with reporting and logistical coordination, but their activity in the government-held provinces is almost limited. This OCHA visit to Marib, albeit late, is still a good starting point."

Al-Jandabi demanded the OCHA delegation to open an office in the city of Marib to be closely acquainted with the situation of the IDPs and to address their needs.

He said that there are a number of camps for Sana'a IDPs which have not yet been visited by the UN humanitarian organizations.
