Deputy Premier, Foreign Minister Abdulmalik Al-Mekhlafi, government's chief negotiator in the peace consultations along with Director of Republic Presidency Office Dr Abdullah Al-Alimi, met Wednesday with the UN envoy to our country Martin Giffith.
Al-Mekhlafi and Al-Aimi' discussed with Griffith the idea of reviving the Yemeni peace consultations that based on the GCC's Initiative, its operational plan, outcomes of National Dialogue and UNSCRs, namely 2216.
The UN envoy outlined features of his own vision about making peace in Yemen, his action-plan for the forthcoming period and his efforts aiming to prepare for resuming political consultations to reach a fair solution that can establish a sustainable peace in Yemen.
The Foreign Minister reiterated the legitimate government's commitment to achieve durable and fair peace, put an end of the humanitarian crisis caused by Houthi militia's coup, restore the State's institutions.
Al-Mekhlafi stressed the importance of disarming the militia so that the State shall exclusively have the right to possess weapons, considering that is the key guarantee to carry out any peace agreement and maintain it.
For his part, the UN envoy stated that he represents the UN and he complies with its resolutions and documents.
