The army has announced the launch of a military operation to root out al-Qaeda elements in the northern areas of Hadhramout on Saturday.
The spokesman of the command of the Second Military Region Hisham al-Jaberi told the Defense Ministry's news site www.26sepnews.net that the operation, dubbed as "the Black Mountains", aims to track al-Qaeda elements in the northern parts of Hadhramout with support from the Arab Coalition forces."
"The Operation was launched with a large military deployment … in particular in the areas of al-Haysar, Qarat al-Fors, al-Dhalleyah and Lebnah."
Intelligence agents detected elements of the terrorist organization regrouping in those areas, after they had failed to hold against the ground of coastal Hadhramout leaving it to the advancing army troops.
