Minister of Public Works and Roads Maeen Abdul-Malik have discussed with Bana Kaloti, the UNOPS Director for the Middle East Region and the Integrated Urban Services Team the implementation of urban services projects which have started in Aden, Sana'a and Hodeidah cities.

The meeting was held in the World Bank's headquarters in Washington on Friday attended by specialists from the World Bank. The urban service projects in question project cover maintenance of roads, water, sewage and power supply for health facilities in addition to the disposal of waste in nineteen Yemeni cities with funding from the IDA.

The projects aim to restore to 600,000 Yemenis water and sanitation services, 400 km of roads in urban areas, 60,000 hours of power current supply, and to create 1.5 million working days for skilled and unskilled workers.

The project will be implemented by three Yemeni institutions: the Public Works Project, the Road Maintenance Fund and the Urban Water Management Unit.
