G7 Foreign Minsters condemn Iranian support to Houthi rebel militia

The foreign ministers of the Group of Seven Industrial Powers (G7) have condemned Iran's destabilizing activities in the region, primarily the support to the Houthi rebel militia in Yemen.

In a joint communiqué they released at the end of a two-day meeting in Toronto on Tuesday, they expressed "deep concern" at what UN reports said Iran's sending of components of ballistic missiles to the Houthis in Yemen.

They called on Iran to defuse the tensions in Yemen, abide by the UN resolutions and prevent all forms of direct and indirect proliferation of ballistic missile know-how.

The G7 leading industrialized nations consist of the USA, the UK, Canada, Germany, France, Italy and Japan.
