Relief aid NGOs thank Taiz governor for facilitating their work
[24/04/2018 02:30]
TAIZ-SABA
Humanitarian aid organizations operating in Taiz have thanked its governor Ameen Mahmoud for the efforts his authority exerts to facilitate their humanitarian mission inside the war-torn city.

Mahmoud and local competent officials convened a broad meeting with several aid organizations in the city on Tuesday, a day after the army, upon his directives, tightened control and killed terror suspects in the aftermath of a fatal shooting of Hanna Lahoud, an ICRC employee, in the city last Saturday.

Mahmoud listened to the NGOs representatives as they gave accounts of their humanitarian operations.

The NGOs confirmed their commitment to go ahead with their humanitarian role in coordination with the local authority.

Mahmoud confirmed that the local authority "won't tolerate the evil forces that want to destabilize peace and cause the deprivation of Taizi people from humanitarian and relief aid.

The local government has tightened crackdown against marauding armed gangs that have carried out several assassinations in the past. It is still struggling with a three-years-long blockade imposed by Houthi rebels around the city.
