In a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Ahmed bin-Daghr in the temporary capital Aden on Saturday, the Cabinet discussed a number of internal and external developments including the dramatic army gains achieved, with help from the Arab Coalition, against the Houthi rebels.

The Cabinet blessed the heroic victories against the militia, the latest of which was the liberation of the coastal city of Meedi, the progress in Saada, Beidha, Taiz and different other fronts.

The Cabinet discussed the international moves to broker peace and the rebels' insistence on continuing the bloodshed by avoiding peace.

The government is bent on supporting the efforts to broker and achieve a just lasting peace as per the agreed upon terms of reference; the GCC initiative, its executive mechanism, the outcomes of the National Dialogue and the UN Security Council resolutions, particularly resolution 2216.

The Cabinet condemned the rebels' maximalist attitude and insistence on military escalation at the expense of the Yemeni people's blood.

It said that the rebel guerrilla are not the makers of their decision, but they are only subservient tools used by Iran to implement its destructive agenda against the Gulf, Arab region and the world as a whole.

The Cabinet affirmed that the recent Houthi escalation by firing ballistic missiles into Saudi territory is a clear Iranian decision to ease the international isolation imposed against Iran.

The Cabinet blamed the Iranian regime saying it bears all the responsibility for the Houthi attacks by missiles and lately by drones against civilian targets inside Saudi Arabia.

The Cabinet called upon the UN Security Council to shoulder its responsibilities in maintaining international security and stability, and stressed the need to hold Iran accountable for the ongoing armed defiance to the UN resolutions on Yemen.

The Cabinet also listened to a detailed presentation by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior on the security situation in the interim capital Aden and other government-held provinces.
