Yemen participates in preparatory meeting for NAM conference

Yemen has participated in the first day of a preparatory meeting for the Non- Aligned Movement (NAM) Mid-Term Ministerial Conference, an event that will be held in Baku on 5-6 April, 2018 under the theme of “Promoting international peace and security for sustainable development”.

Senior officials including a Yemeni delegation are holding the meeting in Baku, the capital of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdul-Malik al-Mekhlafi is expected to participate in the Mid-Term Ministerial Conference.

The conference will discuss a number of challenges facing NAM, as well as regional and international issues of interest to member states such as the situation in Palestine, Syria, Libya, Yemen and Myanmar, as well as bolstering cooperation among NAM countries in various fields, especially in countering terrorism. Composed of more than 120 countries including Yemen, NAM is a forum for political consultations that is dedicated to representing the aspirations of developing countries and contributes to global peace and security.
