Yemen's government said that Sunday's missile attack by Houthis against Saudi Arabia in coincidence with the visit of the new UN peace mediator to Sana'a is a sign that the militant rebel group is bent on aggression and rejection of peace.

In a statement, the government the timing of the rockets launch and the message behind that " clearly refer to the involvement of Iran as a planner, supporter and financier of the terrorist militia."

It pointed out that through this attack, Iran wanted to alleviate the the international community's pressure against them and to prove that they have cards through which they can twist the arms of the world.

While expressing strong condemnation of this terrorist act against Saudi Arabia, the government praised the capabilities of the Saudi Air Defense Forces in intercepting and destroying Iran's ballistic missiles.

The government also reiterated its demand to the UN Security Council, the United Nations and the whole international community to take a firm stand against the expansionist Iranian policy and destructive agenda in the region.

Smuggling missiles and other weapons to Houthis drives home the point that Iran has become a rogue state that will not stop aggressions unless countered with firmness from the international community.

The statement called on the international community to support the Saudi-led Arab Coalition backing Yemen's government against the Iranian agenda.
