Vice President Lt. Gen. Ali Mohsen Saleh has chaired a meeting of the Friends of Yemen (FOY) Working Group on Security to discuss Yemen developments and the working group's future tasks.
The meeting was held in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, on Thursday.
The Vice President said:" building up the military, security and intelligence institutions is a major objective and it is a key factor for establishing security and protecting Yemen and brothers' and friends' interests, as well as contributing to toward maintaining international peace that Iran-backed Houthis are seeking to threaten".
(Lt Gen) Ali Mohssen added:" We have achieved successes in countering violence and terrorism, moreover, we have made progress in terms of training and coordination between us, and we have been keeping on this for safer, free-violence future".
Ali Mohsen has praised the Group's efforts and renewed the commitment of Yemen to permanent peace based on the three basic terms of reference. He pointed to the Houthi rebels' efforts to starve the Yemeni people, target the international shipping, trigger sectarian hatred and form a sectarian army to pose a threat to the whole region.
Ali Mohsen also praised the Saudi-led Arab Coalition and the USA for training Yemen's Coast Guards and Counterterrorism forces.
