Managerial crew of the Austrian OMV oil company arrived on Sunday in Al-Aqla oil field, eastern Shabwa province. The arrival of the administration team came within arrangements for resuming the company's business. The team headed by Robert Glock returned to Yemen for the fist time since foreign companies operate in oil production in Yemen has left the country in the wake of Houthi militia coup by the end of 2014.
The team paid an inspection visit to bloc S2 in Al-Aqla oil field where the Austrian firm established its investment oil enterprise.
The Minister of Oil and Minerals Engineer Aous Al-Awd told the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that arrival of the firm technical team in Shabwa came as a columniation of tireless efforts made by the legitimate government backed by Saudi-led Arab Coalition to pay the way for resuming the economic sectors, mainly oil and gas.." it is a preliminary step forward for the returning of all oil firms to the government-held regions", said Awd.
The Minister stated that communications are underway with other international oil companies. " There are positive signs that bringing oil and gas sector back into operation will be done within the upcoming period", said Awd
