RIYADH-SABA

The Yemeni government deplores report published by "Reuters" on negotiations with Al- Houthi militias in Saudi Arabia.

The Yemeni government deplored a report by Reuters news agency in which is quoted a Yemeni government official on “misleading news” regarding negotiations with Al-Houthi militants in the Saudi capital Riyadh.

Information Minister Muammar Al-Iryani told Yemen News Agency: "It is regrettable that a prominent media agency, the calibre of Reuters, descended to fabricate these lies and attributed them to official Yemeni sources." He called on the agency to apologize quickly for this mistake, which harms its professionalism, reputation and credibility.

Al-Iryani reiterated the (Yemeni) government's firm and unnegotiable stance for peace, calling on the Iranian-backed Houthi militias to end the coup and hand over arms to the government.

He stressed that the putschist militia Al-Houthi does not care for the homeland’s interests nor the citizens’ suffering, and that it is merely an Iranian tool. The events proved that the decision of peace and war is not in its own hands, but in Tehran’s.

An Arab alliance official has denied the news, adding that Saudi Arabia was not conducting any negotiations with the Houthi militias, and the alliance confirmed its support for the UN efforts in reaching a political solution among the Yemeni parties based on the three reference points: the Gulf Initiative and its operational mechanisms, the outputs of the Yemeni national dialogue and the U.N. Security Council resolution.
