The governor of the Central Bank of Yemen (CBY) Mohammed Zammam has discussed with the representative of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) a project for supporting and institutional rebuilding of the CBY.
The meeting was held at the headquarters of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in the Jordanian capital Amman with the participation (via satellite) of the IMF team in charge of Yemen's economy.
The project will be financed by the Saudi Arabia Monetary Authority, the USAID, the UK's Department for International Development, the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, and the UAE Central Bank.
The meeting discussed the tasks of the American contractor for delivering institutional support for CBY and all its branches in the country among other topics.
All of the parties stressed readiness to support the CBY to re-assume its full monetary functions. An IMF team has already carried out a technical appraisal of the current status of the CBY.
