Ending Houthi coup an end to Yemeni people suffering; says Minister

Minister of Human Rights Mohammad Askar has confirmed Yemeni Government's firm commitment of human rights as the sole wayout for achieving peace.

"What has been going on in Yemen since September 21, 2014 represents a real tragedy to a people suffer injustice twice; one by terrifying and savagery of Houthi rebel militia and the other by negligence of the international community for stopping the systematic coup of the militia," said Askar in Yemen's speech in the opening ceremony of the 37th Round of Human Rights Council in Geneva.

He pointed out that there arewho insist on describing the situation in Yemen as differences between Yemeni parties.

Those who do not want to understand the real situation must study the incidents sequences, which prove that Houthi aggression has started the bloody coup on September 21 and continues with their march of occupying cities and institutions since 2014, he added.

He confirmed that this coup is the main reason of all this tragedy and ending the coup means an end to suffering of the Yemeni people.

He reviewed the humanitarian situation, clarifying that the rebel militia, as armed fighter group, rejects to to be a legal political party as other parties in a country respects political multiplicity.

" We, in Yemen, especially in government-held areas, face dangerous escalation of terrorist attacks claimed by al-Qaeda and Daish, targeting the state's structure, its instructions and human being's right of life and peace, the recent one was what happened in Aden two days ago and left six people killed and 36 others wounded," said Minister Askar.

He stressed that the government has exerted huge efforts for limiting terrorist operations and activities and achieved positive results in this field.

He called for more regional and international support to the government of Yemen for boosting its capabilities as active partner with the international community for fighting terrorism.
