Promising findings for growing new spices of wheat in Marib

Final findings of studies conducted on growing new modified species of wheat from the Universal Center (cimmyt), its main headquarters in Mexico showed high productivity and less production costs.

The findings of the applied tests and evaluation carried out by the 'Eastern Highland Agricultural Research Station(EHARS) [ (Marib- Al-Jawf] showed that potential productivity of each hectare of this type of wheat ranges between 6-7 tons compared with 2-3 tons of every hectare of the type which is being grown by the farmers.

The (EHARS) announced the findings of the researches in a function held on Thursday in the area of Al-Faw in the district of Marib city. General-director of the (EHARS) Eng. Qa'id Abu Asba'a said: " final findings proved that the new modified species of wheat need less quantity of water, approximately one third less than the type grown now.

The new improved species of wheat has proved to ripe two weeks earlier than the types have been grown by the local farmer, according to Abu Asba'a.
