FM, Austrian Ambassador discuss bilateral relations

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Abdul-Malik Al-Mekhlafi discussed today with Austrian Ambassador to the country Gregor Wilfred Koesslerthe bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and the prospects for enhancing them.

The Foreign Minister praised Austria's efforts in supporting the government of Yemen on bilateral, European and international levels at the Houthi rebellion. He hailed the generous Austrian support provided at the Geneva Conference which was held last year the increase the humanitarian response to Yemen's needs.

Al-Mekhlafibriefed Koessleron the overall situation in Yemen, especially after the Houthikilling of the former president and their derailment of peace.

He said that militia seizes the current situation in the areas of its controlto impose fees and raise funds in various illegal ways to keep their insurgency financed and as an illicit enrichment at the expense of traders and citizens.

For his part, the Austrian ambassador affirmed his country's stand with Yemen's government. He hoped that peace will be achieved in Yemen and that the government will be able to restore the state and its institutions and stop the suffering of the Yemeni people as soon as possible.
