Shadadi meets IPU president in Cairo

The Vice Speaker of Yemen's Parliament, Mohamed Ali Al-Shaddadi, met today with the President of the International Parliament Union (IPU), Gabriela Baroun, on the sidelines of the Third Conference of the Arab Parliament and heads of Arab parliaments and councils to be held tomorrow at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo.

During the meeting, which was attended by members of the parliamentary bloc in the Arab Parliament, Al-Shaddadi gave an account on the latest developments in Yemen and the Yemeni people's suffering as a result of the Houthi armed insurgency against the state headed by President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

Al-Shaddadi praised the role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its military, humanitarian and developmental support to the country.

He also called on the IPU to condemn the practices of the Iran-backed militiawhich threaten the local peace in Yemen and the regional and international peace.

For her part, Baroun emphasized the importance of strentgening communication between the Yemeni parliament and the IPU. She expressed her keenness on working with the IPU's executive committee to help Yemen.
