The people of Yemen's Socotra are undergoing an education program to learn to appreciate and conserve wetlands.
The Wildlife Protection Society in the Arabian Sea archipelago unleashed on Sunday a five-day campaign for raising the awareness of the local communities especially students, about wetlands, their importance and how to conserve them.
The campaign was launched in cooperation with local NGOs in commemoration of the World Wetlands Day which annually occurs on February 2.
The archipelago of four islands is internationally known for its wetlands unique biodiversity in general.
