Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Abdulmalik Al-Mikhlafi met on Sunday with the Director of Norwegian Center for Conflict Resolution (NOREF) Dr Henrique

The Foreign Minister expressed thanks for the NOREF for being interested in the situation in our country; praising the Norwegian support for the Yemeni government politically and economically. He noted that Norwegian government committed itself $25 million in April 2017 in humanitarian aid to our country.

Al-Mikhlafi asserted the government's commitment to sustainable peace option as the only single solution to the country's dilemma that should be based on the GCC's Initiative, outcomes of National Dialogue and UN Security Council resolution 2216.

The Prime Minister explained the good offices made frequently earlier in the hope of making peace. He blamed Houthi militia for the prolonging armed conflict." Houthi militia has repeatedly rejected peace proposals suggested and sponsored by the UN special envoy to Yemen". said Al-Mikhlafi.

The Foreign Minister added " However, the government represented by President Hadi has continued to extend its hand for peace, as peace is the government's option to re-establish security and stability in the country".

For his part, the NOREF' Director explained that Norway pays special attention to the situation in Yemen, noting that he would work through the NOREF in cooperation with the special envoy of the UN on drawing out a proposal for a solution to the Yemeni conflict that is based on the three references.. and that is to be in cooperation with the Yemeni government.
