A joint meeting held Saturday in Marib brought together governors of Sa'adah, Al-Mahweat, Ryamah, Hujjah and local authority of Marib province, Yemen Gas Company(YGC) and Safer Oil and Gas Company (SOGC).

The meeting devoted to discuss the crisis of cooking gas shortages and skyrocketing prices in the regions of Tiham province which includes Sa'ada, Al-Mahweat, Ryamah, Hodeida and Hujjah, all are still under the yoke of Houthi militia's control.

The gathering included governors of Al-Mahweat, Dr Saleh Soma'ea, Sa'adah Hadi Tarshan, Hujjah Abulkareem Assonaini, Ryamah Mohammed Al-Hori, Deputy governor of Marib Dr Abd-Rabbu Miftah, Manager of Coordination in the YGC Sultan Naji and Manager of Gas in (SOGC) Saud Thakran.

The conveners have blamed Houthi militia for the shortages of cooking gas and its soaring prices in the provinces controlled by militia.

The Manager of Coordination in the YGC and Manager of Gas in SOGC have held Houthi militia accountable for the gas crisis. They explained that Houhti militias have deliberately intended to impound the gas portion produced by SOIC which roughly made up 75 LPG TANK RTRALER per day for domestic consumption all over the provinces in the country.

The two managers argued that the militias have given licenses for 6000 new more LPG TANK TRIALER, 22o Gas Stations, replaced the old agents with their own, consequentially, they have actually taken control on gas business. They monopoly the commodity, manipulate prices and conceal the supplies and sell in the black market.

The two managers stated that portions of gas supplies based on the total population of every region.

The meeting has decided to set-up joint committee consists of the governors of the four governorates in Tiham province, YGC and SOGC to work out clear-cut and transparent mechanism that can ensure the cooking gas supplies for the four provinces under supervision by the YGC's agents, the governors and local authority officials, otherwise Iran-backed Houthi militias shall be held accountable in case that they don't allow to put the suggested mechanism in place.
