FM briefs Italian envoy on Houthi atrocities

Foreign Minister Abdul-Malik al-Mekhlafi has briefed the Italian Special Envoy for Yemen Ambassador Gianfranco Petruzzellaon the daily atrocities that the Houthis commit in their areas of control recently including the capital Sana'a.

In a meeting between them in Riyadh on Wednesday, al-Mekhlafi said the Iran-backed rebel militia continue toconduct extra-judicial executions,recruit child fighters, confiscate humanitarian aid, abduct journalists and activists and attack women protests among several atrocities and abuses.

He said these practices require a serious international action to press the rebels and the Iranian regime which has been supplying them with expertise and weapons until now.

He renewed the government's support to the UN Special Envoy's efforts and proposals to achieve peace based on the three terms of reference for peace which are a national, Arab and international obligation that has to be met.

On his part, Petruzzella said his government is interested in the events in Yemen and is continuing its political, economic and humanitarian support until the restoration of the Yemeni state and achieving peace.
