613 civilians killed, injured within 40 days by Houthi militia

Ministry of Human Rights said it had documented 613 cases of killing and wounding among civilians perpetrated by the putschist Houthi militia during the period from December 1,2017 through January 10,2018.

A report by the Ministry of Human Rights the Yemeni News Agency ( Saba) well familiar with stated that 318 cases of killing were documented, causalities included 8 women and 14 children. Meanwhile, cases of injuries, mutilation and disability counted 295, included 6 women and 17 children.

The report noted that Houthi militia had planted landmines in residential areas, villages, plantations and roads with the aim of killing as many civilians as possible. As a result 23cases of landmines causalities were registered including killing and wounding.

According to the report 407 cases of arbitrary arrest, forced disappearance and torture were documented during the period covered by the report. 280 cases of abduction and forced disappearances targeted the supporters of the General People Congress party and former President Ali Saleh. The report stated that dozens of politicians, activists and journalists have continued to be held in the militia's detention places.

The report attested that Houthi militias have recruited 830 children under legal age. , the report stated.

Concerning to violations and attacks against public and private-owned property, the report cited 161 cases of violations out of which 57 against houses were bombed and detonated, totally destroyed. While 104 of property included buildings, stores and mosques were seriously damaged.

The anti-media and freedom of expression crackdown and hunting campaign has seriously been intensified. Most of the News websites, including social media outlets have been blocked and dozens of media men were held in illegal secret detentions.

91 violations against journalists were documented. The militias have committed arrest, torture, raiding headquarters of the newspapers, TV and Radio channels and stations and looting equipment, according to the report.
