Awareness Campaign on mine dangers launched in Shabwa

The Secretary General of Shabwa Local Council Abd-Rabbo Hashla and Director of Baihan District Ahmad Saleh al-Tahiri launched on Sunday the emergency campaign on mine dangers and war aftermaths in Baihan and Usailan Districts.

Hashla praised good preparations of the campaign, which is being carried out by 30 male and female youth and financed by the UNICEF. It lasts for a month.

He confirmed communication in field of awareness on mine dangers, demanding that the awareness programs should include also Ain District, which has been also inflicted by evil of Houthi militia and planted thousands of mines in the three districts.

For his part, the Director of Mine Engineering Department at the Ministry of Defense General Sheikh Thabit pointed to dangers of different types of mines on lives of people, how to identify them and then reporting on them.

The Coordinator of the Training Program Dr. Ali al-Shairi urged distributing participants of the program into five groups, three of them to be in charge of awareness in Baihan and Usailan.

On the other hand, the Secretary General Hashla inaugurated the friendly area at 30 November School at al-Ulaiah City. UNICEF has financed the project of the area.

The area will rehabilitate children psychically over war fears after liberating Baihan from the militia.
