Fatah welcomesUN $50 million appropriation for Yemen
[10/01/2018 05:09]

ADEN-SABA
The Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Relief Aid Abduraqib Fatah has welcomed the statement of theUN Deputy Secretary-General Mark Lowcock's statement that the UN Central Emergency Response Fund has appropriated $50 million in relief aid for Yemen.

In a statement to Saba, Fatah said it is important that Lowcok directs the UN organizations to move from the "repeated rhetorical diagnosis"of Yemen's suffering "to discuss ensuring an effective smooth access to relief aid.

He elaborated that the relief aiddistribution should by adecentralized process, beginning with their shipping (to Yemen) through all of its sea and air ports, not just the Houthi-controlled Hodeidah seaport.

And from the ports of entry, they shall be collected into five main centers stationed across Yemen, wherefrom it is easy and shorter way to access all Yemen's regions with the aid.

Fatah called on the donor countries to fulfill their commitments toward humanitarian response plan the UN announced in Geneva last year.

He called on the UN organizations to do all what is needed to stop the Houthi militia's abuses of humanitarian aid.
