Yemen's Foreign Minister Abdul-Malik al-Mekhlafi told the British Ambassador to Yemen that the Houthi terrorist militia prove everyday they are "indisposed and undesirous for peace."
In a meeting with Mr. Simon Shercliff in Riyadh on Tuesday, al-Mekhlafi told him that the recent Houthi threat to cut off shipping in the Red Sea and "sticking to maximalist stance proves that the group is an extremist one and averse to peace."
Nonetheless, al-Mekhlafi renewed the government's support to the UN Envoy Ismail Ould Cheikh's effort to achieve a peaceful solution and the government's commitment to peace.
He appreciated the UK government's support to President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi's internationally recognized government, and the economic and humanitarian support.
He highly estimated the UK potential role in sponsoring political settlement and pushing for the enforcement of the UN resolutions.
The UK ambassador affirmed his government's support to the Yemeni government. He expressed his concern at the current situations in the capital Sana'a and the importance of continuing the efforts for advancing a peaceful solution to the conflict.
