GPC says planned Sana'a caucus a bid to hijack the party

The leadership of the General People's Congress (GPC) said on Sunday that the Houthi plan to organize a caucus in the name of the party in Sana'a is a bid to hijack the party.

In a statement of which Saba received a copy, the GPC leadership said: "any attempt planned in Sana'a is irrelevant to the GPC. It is a bid to hijack the party to warrant the acts of controlling the party's premises, media resources and funds."
"The GPC is facing a Houthi looting campaign against the state institutions and, with other national stakeholders, it is resisting the systematic destruction of the state, coexistence and civil peace," said the statement.

"The absolute majority of the GPC permanent members are now outside Sana'a," said the source referring to the migration of the GPC members from Sana'a after the Houthi campaign against GPC members that led to Ali Abdullah Saleh's killing in December 4.

"The GPC survived the risk of cleavage and attempts to disintegrate it following the martyrdom of its head and secretary general," said the GPC referring to Saleh.
