Info. Minister condemns Houthis' abuses against GPC members
[22/12/2017 02:56]
RIYADH-SABA
Minister of Information Mumammar al-Eryani has condemned the Houthis' abuses against members of the GPC party after the rebel militia took control of the capital Sana'a.

The Houthi militia began a campaign of atrocities against GPC members in Sana'a, Hajjah and other parts of north Yemen as of late November since their erstwhile Ali Saleh a senior member of the party broke alliance with them and led an uprising against the anti-government rebellion.

In a statement to Saba, al-Eryani said these "vengeful attacks which amounted to the extent of cracking down on journalists and sentencing them to jails, storming oppositionsts' houses, looting their properties, and abducting women drive home the point that the Houthis is a criminal militia with a terrorist approach and harbors spiteful bigotry to all the political stakeholders of the country."

He said that "the temporary capital Aden received scores of GPC members, leaders, journalists and others in the past few days" and the government will offer all the needed care "for the displaces fleeing the atrocities of the militia."

Local statistics show that the radical militia has abused thousands of people as they wanted to quell a mass uprising killing people, sweeping them to jails, blowing up their houses with dynamites and abusing women in a violation of all values and protections the Yemeni tribal codes endow women with.

Al-Eryani called on the local and international human rights organizations and activists to document the militia's abuses against the Yemeni people and most recently against the GPC members.
