Houthi missile attack toward Riyadh draws worldwide condemnation
[19/12/2017 09:26]

ADEN-SABA
Several countries across the world have voiced their strong condemnation of the Houthi rebel militia's firing of a ballistic missile toward the Saudi capital on Tuesday afternoon. The Iran-aligned terrorist group was aiming at residential civilian areas in Riyadh but the Saudi air defenses intercepted and destroyed the missile in the air.

Condemnation for the attack came from the ambassadors of countries with accredited diplomatic missions to Yemen as they happened to be in a meeting with President Abd-Rabbu M. Hadi in Riyadh at the moment of the attack, addressing the humanitarian crisis that the Houthis' military takeover triggered and perpetuated.

In a statement on its official news agency, the UAE condemned the rocket attack affirming that it stands "by the side of Saudi Arabia against whoever tries to threaten its security."

The Lebanese Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri said the attack is "a threat to the security of the whole region."

The spokesman of the Jordanian government Dr. Mohammed al-Moamini condemned the attack "as a serious escalation that will further deepen the Yemeni crisis."

The Turkish Foreign Minister condemned it expressing relief that no loss of lives or material damages occurred thanks to the Saudi air defense's interception of the missile.
Other condemnations came from the UK, Morocco, the Secretary General of the GCC and several world countries and leaders.
