Yemenis observed the Humaan Rights Day, December 10, recounting the brutal abuses that the Houthi radical militia committed in three years of deadly rebellion.
In a speech in the commemoration ceremony in Aden on Tuesday, the chairwoman of Yemen's Women Union Fatima Muraysi said "women were the weakest link in numerous abuses by the rebel militia."
She called for "initiating programs that boost women's political involvement and promotes the culture of human rights."
The Children's Letter, delivered by a child, called on the international community to look into the situation of Yemeni children who have been deprived of the rights to life, education and dignified life.
The letter said 20 thousand children have been recruited by the rebels as fighters and displacements and horrendous other atrocities were committed against children during the three year old rebellion.
The CSOs speech highlighted the killing and abduction campaign that the Houthis have been waging relentlessly against activists.
The Minister of Human Rights delivered a speech saying "the Houthi rebellion committed crimes against the Yemeni people and these crimes increased dramatically following the recent outbreak of infighting between the formerly allied rebel factions (supporters of the former President Saleh and Houthis.)
