FM, UN envoy discuss developments in Yemen

Dep. Premier the Foreign Minister Abdul-Malik al-Mekhlafi and the UN Special Envoy Ismail OuldCheikh discussed the latest developments in Sana'a in a meeting in the Saudi capital today.

They discussed the ways to achieve peace, re-normalize life and end the abnormal situations that the Iran-aligned rebels caused.

Al-Mekhlafi pointed to President Abd-Rabbu M. Hadi'scall for all political parties to open a new page based on the three internationally recognized terms of reference; a peace that deal that leads to the restoration of the legit government, and handover of militias' weapons to the state. "The current situation in Sana'a is a direct result of the Houthi militias' intransigence and refusal of peace efforts."

Al-Mekhlafi praised the unlimited Arab Coalition support to the government.

Regarding the Sana'a uprising against Houthis, he said that "the support of the Yemeni government for the public resistance stems from the necessity of achieving peace and ending the rebellion."

The UN enovy praised the government's efforts and positive reaction toward peace calls.
