VP meets with UK ambassador to Yemen

Vice President Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Ali Mohssen Saleh met Thursday with the United Kingdom ambassador to our country Simon Sherfcliff.

The meeting dealt with latest developments in the national arena and bilateral ties between the two friendly countries.

The Vice President praised the Great Britain's role in supporting legal government and Yemeni people. He stated that the Yemeni political leadership headed by President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi highly appreciates the UK support, and it is very keen on further increasing Yemeni-British cooperation, particularly in the area of combating terrorism.

Mohssen touched upon Yemeni peoples torment due to Iran-backed Houthi militias, blaming Iran's constant attempts to target Yemen's and its identity in a bid to make Yemeni territory a launching-pad to threaten international maritime navigation and destabilizing the region's security and stability.

The Vice President affirmed that Yemeni legal government is keen to establish lasting peace that is based on the GCC' brokered-deal, outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and International Security Council resolution 2216.

The British ambassador reiterated its country's stance in supporting Yemen and its legal authority.
